I have always loved as many German cookies as I could get my hands on.

Unfortunately, however, my love affair has led me to type2 diabetes, and I had to call it off.

No, but I am familiar with Bratwurst

You are definitely a German Kook

---- Here in Team GB you would qualify for an Assistance Allowance as you need a Carer for cooking and eating , for examp;le .

Do you eat anything sugary? I'm type 2 and didn't call it off completely.

These are among my most favorites:
  • Pfeffernusse
  • Spritzgeback marzipan with rum jelly filling
  • German chocolate macaroons
  • Nussecken
  • Hausfreunde w/ caramelized cashews
  • Bethmannchen
  • Dominosteine

I did not know Hausfreunde ,,,,, sounds nice! 😊

Frankly, I've never met any German Christmas cookie that wasn't tasty and enjoyable, even the least good plain ones are a delight in construction and detail, and I could probably name 30 more good ones, but hausfreunde and nussecken are probably a couple of my favorites.

IMO, probably every good cookie ever made for Christmas time is a German cookie. To make hausfreunde right is a bit complicated, just in between the cookie layers is an apricot jam, topped with chocolate then finally topped with caramelized cashew halves.

Yum.
