Do they?

Or never ever?

here they do
.

We've never had that tradition here in the States, as far as I can remember. Possibly in our distant past, in very Catholic areas.

What happens when they come to your door? Do you give them a sweet or a blessing?

It used to be one of the many traditions, when children said a verse and asked for a little gift.

now it is organised by the church, and the children collect money for the missionaries.

But one may also give them a personal gift.

It used to be the tradition, that one of the kings were black, representing Africa.

this was quite different from the US blackfacing.
But political correctness often killed that tradition.

As with many old traditions, there is also a parody of it.
It goes like this:

Wir sind die 3 Könige mit ihrem Stern,
Wir essen, wir trinken, wir zahlen nicht gern!

We are the 3 kings with their star,
We eat, we drink, we don’t like to pay!

I love it!

My ministry is making rosaries for important causes, and I'd love to give them rosaries! Also collecting money for missionaries is so important!

I sometimes get guys disguised as the pizza delivery guy come to my door. He comes following the Glowing, Precious Star.
