Among other things indeed. You are the first line of protection, the police are usually somewhere else, so don't let anyone disarm you to save you from yourself. We have created a predatory class of malcontents and they don't follow protocol that may be forced on you.

after JOe said that, I had major worries about Girl Scouts delivering cookies.

So they arrested the guy whose home was being invaded.
There's something wrong with that.

Not from what I understood from the story. The apartment dweller was the fellow being interviewed and he was not in custody and wouldn't likely have been speaking to a reporter if charges were pending.

This is from 2022, and it looks like the homeowner was not charged, but the da did review it. I think that local justice is in most cases more responsive and responsible than any federal over reach, but only if citizens keep a tight grip on it. This man had no choice.

The stigma for self defense should not be greater than the foolish attempts to reform career criminals out of some misguided sense of goodness.

Yes, a lot of people still think you're wrong if you think your property and life are not worth shooting someone. I think they watch too many tv shows where the cops talk to a thug for 30 minutes and explain the joys of progressiveness and the thug finally drops the gun and is saved.

In case anyone is wondering what all four of these locations have in common...you guessed it...all run by DemoKKKrats.

Well what about the apaartment across the hall? Any bullets go through that door??

All of the rounds hit the wall next to the door.

Probably where the poor sap's La-Z-Boy is. I mean, who puts their La-Z-Boy in front of the door anyway?

I like those movies where one guy tries to gauge where the other guy stands on the other side of a wall. And then he shoots thru the wall, dropping the guy dead.

Popping off 13 rounds through a closed door is a guaranteed way to get yourself arrested no matter the circumstances, especially when your backstop contains the door to another dwelling. The question is, was he prosecuted? In most self-defense situations where you are forced to discharge your firearm, you ARE going to get arrested, and your firearm is going to get seized even if you're completely in the right. The police aren't there to litigate your case, they're there to collect evidence, so be prepared to spend some jail time until your lawyer sorts things out for you (i.e. have carry insurance).

I do understand that was stressful situation but IMHO the guy was incredibly irresponsible since he could have easily hit an innocent bystander (like for example someone inside the apartment directly across from him or someone just walking by).
