Did the Democratic party have slavery as it's platform?

I was kind of think of why the democratic party is still around. It is over 200 years old and is the party that opposed Lincoln. Now I thought we were suppose to purge our country of all racist symbols of the past such as the confederate flag but it appears we erase all those symbols except for the democratic party. What is up with that 'liberals' and black lives matter? I know the republican party isn't perfect on this issue either but why join a party that at one time had slavery in its platform?
