It doesn't matter who the president is or which party is in charge of the House of Congress; SOTU speeches are nothing more than massive exercises in political grandstanding. I yearn for a day when the president simply sends a written notice to Congress to fulfill his obligation and quits wasting everyone else's time. Do I expect that to happen anytime soon? No.
