In fact, and everyone has known this since, forever, Alfred Russell Wallace developed the same theory independently. Darwin and Wallace did collaborate on the first published paper on Evolution, for which Wallace received credit.

Wallace wrote articles and books his entire life in support of the theory that Darwin gets the most credit.

That being said, Wallace was also a believer in phrenology and anti-smallpox vaccine advocate.

P.S. Elisha Gray applied for a patent for the telephone on the same day as Alexander Graham Bell.

Bell's patent was approved first and that is why we didn't call the phone company Ma Gray.

Awwww Jeez you kids, it's only been known for 160 years that Wallace nearly beat Darwin with a book on the theory.
