Yet, he voted against the Laken Riley Act.
Why does he oppose it? He explains it here:
The Laken Riley Act will amend the mandatory detention provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act to require the federal government to take custody of anyone who entered the country illegally, violated the terms of their immigration status, or had their visa revoked, and is thereafter arrested, charged, or convicted for a crime involving burglary, theft, larceny, or shoplifting.
Why is it important that shoplifers, larcenists, thieves, and burglars be allowed to stay? I guess you have to be a Democrat to understand the logic.
