Democrats Regain Advantage in Party Affiliation

As Republicans here continue repeating a narrative not based in reality, the truth is that more people are leaning Democrat. That's what the same Gallup Poll Repubicans here have used to me claims about the death of the Democratic Party says.

Democrats Regain Advantage in Party Affiliation

Shift occurs even as Democratic Party favorability falls to record low

Americans’ party affiliation has flipped back toward the Democratic Party after the Republican Party held advantages for most of 2023 and 2024. However, these changes in party preference are occurring at a time when the Democratic Party’s image is at an all-time low and slightly worse than that of the Republican Party. Further, Americans are no more likely to believe Democrats are better than Republicans at managing the federal government or bringing about changes the country needs.

Shifts in party affiliation away from the ruling party have occurred in the first year of most recent presidential administrations. The current movement in party preferences is primarily driven by a greater share of political independents saying they lean toward the Democratic Party.

Party Preferences Shift in Second Quarter

In the second quarter of 2025, an average of 46% of U.S. adults identified as Democrats or said they are independents who lean toward the Democratic Party, while 43% identified as Republicans or said they lean Republican.

That three-percentage-point Democratic advantage compares with a tie between the two parties in the first quarter of 2025, after a four-point Republican lead in the fourth quarter of 2024. Until now, the Republican Party had led or tied in most quarters since 2023.

The democrats are in a death spiral fake polls just try and cover it up

/----/ Did you even read the article, or just stop at the headline?

"The net three-point increase in Democratic affiliation between Q4 2024 and Q2 2025, from 43% to 46%, is entirely due to more Americans saying they are independents who lean toward the Democratic Party (up four points), not because more are identifying as Democrats outright (down one point)."
As such, most of the movement in party affiliation in the past three quarters has occurred among U.S. adults with weaker party attachments — leaning independents — than among core party identifiers.

Democrats Get Lowest Rating From Voters in 35 Years, WSJ Poll Finds

Republicans preferred on most issues that decide elections despite unease with Trump over the economy, tariffs and foreign policy

The poll, which surveyed 1,500 registered voters between July 16-20, found Republicans have taken the lead on eight of 10 issues tested. Despite President Donald Trump's continued unpopularity in the polls, the GOP leads in overall party identification. The Journal's poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.

According to the Journal's poll, Democrats now face a net favorability of -30 points, with only one-third of voters expressing any positive sentiment toward the party. This marks the worst performance for Democrats in the newspaper's polling history to date.

Democrats lost every battleground state. Continue to advocate the pilicies America rejected. Have no leadership or solutions. The crazies are taking over the party.
Good luck

It might be the younger Dems who are being influenced by the Israel/Hamas war. It's been a drag on Trumps first tern, as has the Epstein issue and to a lesser extent, the.Ukraine/Russia.war. Trunp being unfairly impacted by issues largely out of his control. Biden faced the same with his withdrawal out of Afghanistan, perhaps the victim of poor military leadership decisions which WAS responsible for.

If Trump can't control the issues, then he shouldn't be president.

Release the damned Epstein Files.
Stop sucking up to Russia
Stop sucking up to the Zionists.

You hurt yourself.with. "You love.Trump" comments. I suppprt every U.S president. Would you prefer I just post on here how great Harris would be if only.Americans had voted.for her to win office? The 1.5% is the popular vote, Trump won by a landslide when measuring national results by counties. It wasn't even close.
If the deep state govt says Trump won by 1.5, you can bet the reality is more like 6 or 7

This is the Trump effect. The Democratic Party has a 19% approval rating, but they are the primary opposition to Trump. Remember what happened in the UK last year? Labour is wildly unpopular, but people were fed up with the Tories, so Labour won in a landslide.

You are in for a hard lesson.
Nah, the circle of politics go round and round. If dems win this time, grats. Then later, republicans will win again...and it all keeps going round.

Actually it's the DEMOCRAT effect. The people are tired of an autocratic, corrupt, criminal party that only cares about their bank accounts and are ripping off the American taxpayer to do it.

Trump is the RESULT of a criminal demofascist party.

Trump is not being impacted by anything ut f his control. Trump made the agreement with the Taliban to leave Afghanistan and stuck Biden with the withdrawal. The reality here is that trump won by 1.5 percent and Republicans barely have a majority in the House. These idiots here have repeated a bunch of lies as if Republicans are a huge majority nd Trump won the election in a bigger landslide than Reagan. Any AMERICAN paying attention could have told you this was how things are going, but you love Trump so you won't listen.

President Trump won by almost 40%

Did the Governor block your access to school with all of the other colorereds?

I equate Dem's lack of popularity to that of the ACA after it was passed. RWM propaganda had tarnished the "Obamacare" brand. But when asked if they supported many of the components of it a majority said they did. Likewise with Dems, a majority of Americans align themselves with the policy positions Dem's stand for on abortion, the environment, gun control, etc. But, counterintuitively, they don't like the Dem brand.

People are angry because Democrats are seen as not fighting hard enough against what's going on. But what we see in this forum is a bunch of Republicans repeating something, trying to create a narrative. Just yesterday I saw stories about Republicans getting slammed in Republican districts in town hall. And maybe in the midterms, people will listen to democrats as they propose plans instead of letting Republicans set the narrative as they whine over nd ver Democrats talk about how they are trying to end democracy. I say this because I read the Harris plan, I heard her speak about her plan, yet the narrative was that she didn't have a plan and all she said was Trump is bad.
