AUSTIN, TX — Congressional Democrats announced today that they are very much opposed to electoral gerrymandering up until the time when they will need to do it themselves, at which point they'll support it again.

"This is not a decision we make lightly, but it is one we make with absolute moral clarity," state legislatorGene Wu told reporters. "We strongly condemn these redistricting efforts until the time comes again when fellow democrats in other states need to gerrymander their own districts, and then at that point we will strongly support it."

Following Texas's new redistricting efforts, Democratic leaders in the state fled the legislative session in an attempt to delay and thwart what they believe to be a gross miscarriage of political power, at least until they can get away with it themselves, at which point they said they'll gladly support it.

"Sure, California, Illinois, and other deep blue states have been gerrymandering Republican voters out of power for decades, but this is bad because now Republicans are doing it, and we just hate it when they do stuff we've been doing forever," Wu said.

"NO CAP!" shouted Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett.

At publishing time, Texas Democrats announced that they will stay out of the state for as long as it takes to prevent the redistricting votes to take effect, or until they get bored and need to come home to water their plants.

Yep, I brought this up a few years ago when they started filing legal challenges to the maps in PA, WI, and NC, while still gerrymandering their own states. Not to mention, they had no issues gerrymandering those states when they had control.

They hypocrisy is ripe on both sides.

Trump's regime's gerrymandering can't be stopped now.

Democracy in America has been stripped of all powers.

Which Demo supporter on this board is going to be the first to admit it?

You can stop crying right right-wingers. You started this.

Why should Democrats admit something we said would happen long before this? It's time Republicans admitted that what Democrats said was right.

Republicans started the mess way back with Tom DeLay. So don't even try that both-sides mess.

Elbridge Gerry served as the fifth Vice President of the United States and also as the Governor of Massachusetts. He was elected Governor in 1810, serving until 1812. Notably, he is also known for his association with the term "gerrymandering," which originated from a controversial political district map created during his governorship
He was a democratic republican in other words he was a democrat...

Bub, that is not satire...it is truth!

Why don't we recognize that the representation system is flawed and needs to be completely deliberated and reordered?

They are running away from the inevitable.... like theatrical cowardly clowns.... just like 90% of the libtards on USMB....
The Whigs thought that such a shifting of dates to be very unjust to the bank and determined if possible to protect the institution. Being the minority party, however, the Whigs determined to prevent a sin die adjournment on Saturday, the twenty-third by absenting themselves and making a quorum impossible. This would make the special and regular sessions all one assembly ending at the time originally set forth.Gillespie leaves the impression that Lincoln and he carried out their assignment and prevented a quorum at the first calling of the roll. However, other Democrat arrived and some Whigs allowed themselves to be brought back by the sergeant--at-arms until finally a quorum was established. The general assumption Is that a quorum was obtained when Lincoln and Gillespie were present and the door being locked they bounced out of the window in disgust, but this conclusion Is traditional. It is an established fact that their effort to prevent the adjournment of the assembly on December 21, 1839, the last day of the session, eventually failed.

Indeed, Secular#eckler is referring to the Russian method of Representation.
A.I. says: The Russian Dumas are not directly based on population; instead, they are structured as a bicameral parliament with the State Duma as the lower house and the Federation Council as the upper house. The Duma's members are elected through a mixed electoral system, which includes proportional representation and single-member districts, rather than purely by population size.
It does not include the people for the people but is based upon the "Rodina".

So does anyone think gerrymandering is bad, regardless of which party is doing it?
