If one looks back at the JFK era, it was patriotic, believed in patriotism and a strong military. What happened was the infiltration of our educational system by Marxists and Socialists whose ideology was that the existing Constitutional Republic and its Bill of Rights had to be overthrown and that would necessitate dividing the nation by pushing racial division, as well as destroying the nuclear family and concocting divisive language.
What both the democrats and republicans should have done was to have a "litmus test" for all who wanted to claim affiliation with either party. If they didn't meet the litmus test then they would be informed they had to represent themselves as either an independent candidate or one of the other political parties that actually exist.
