It's why the US needs to change the electoral system. The current system leads to this partisan craziness, and it's not going to get any better as politicians realize they can manipulate everything like Trump does.

How would going away from electoral college change something like this? Instead of bomb threats in EC states, they would just have them in population areas of a particular ideology.

Also, they claim it’s the Russians doing it….id be curious to see if they get any evidence of that.

Well, the first problem with the current system is that the two political parties need to get 50% or more of the votes. Realistically, with the different range of views out there, this is almost impossible.

In Germany (since reunification) the highest was 43.8% in 1990 when the East Germans were new to free elections and Kohl lied out of his ass and said reunification would be amazing. Merkel managed 41.% in one election. In the last election the highest result was about 25%.

If you have more parties, if you have a system where every vote counts, then NEGATIVE VOTING becomes a much smaller part of politics. Right now Trump is attacking Kamala, it's the most important part of his campaign. And for Kamala, she's basically running off a "don't vote for Trump" campaign like Biden did. It's negative voting.

And negative voting is easier, it's easier to attack the other side than it is to say "hey, this is how we're going to make things better", at best they say "there's a problem, we'll fix it" without saying how they'll fix it.

So, the negativity seeps into the brains of people who think that bombing is now a justified course of action because "the other side are Nazis/Commies and we'll all die if they get into power".

It is complicated. You're dealing human psychology.

In Germany they vote FPTP and PR on the same day and get completely different results. Up to 10% of people will vote smaller parties rather than larger parties with PR.

Everyone's constantly trying to simplify the complicated. It doesn't work.

Ok, but what does this have to do with how eliminating the EC would change the propensity of bomb threats.

All I said was, if you got rid of the EC, then they would just bomb threat the higher population areas.
