A contentious battle is brewing in Dearborn, Michigan, over a mosque's use of an outdoor loudspeaker for its call to prayer.

One resident spoke at Tuesday's city council meeting, presenting a signed petition over the speaker at the Dearborn Community Center on Schaefer Road.

Andrea Unger cited a city ordinance, which states that people are prohibited from creating "the continuance of any unreasonably loud, disturbing, unusual or unnecessary noise which annoys, disturbs, injures, or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace or safety of others within the limits of the city."

"The mosques in East Dearborn are at times waking us up at 5:30 a.m. with a call to prayer and, at other times, forcing us to listen to the prayer in our yard and in our own home," Unger said in the meeting.

This is crap.

OK where are all of you Leftists who mocked me when I said "Call To Prayer" is coming to America? And this raises a religious question: Why do Muslims need a loud obnoxious Call To Prayer 5 times a day when the other major religions don't? :dunno:

Damn those pesky Christian church bells too waking me up on Sunday when I want to sleep in. Bastards.

The other bronze age desert superstitions aren't as faithful.

Absolutely no need for that. Everybody has alarm clocks, smartphones or watches, they know what time it is. Maybe try beepers?

Anyway.

It was always apparent that Mohammedans, once we insisted on allowing millions to come here, would use the First Amendment against America to push their political system that masquerades as a religion.

You should not be forced to listen to someone else's religion in your own yard. Sounds like a noise ordinance should be enforced.

No one seems to remember that this was an issue a few years ago, when the last call to prayer was around 8:30 pm, waking young children with early bedtimes, as well as the first call, which was around 6:00 am, waking every adult.

They sued because the noise was in violation of the city’s noise ordinance. The result: the leftists running the local government said they would make an exception for the Muslims.

Somehow, I don’t think grant the same special exemption if Jews were blasting their shofar at daybreak and at night.

.

FIVE TIMES A DAY.

EVERY DAY.

Yuk. I don't even like it, when they test the tornado sirens, every Saturday and set the dogs barking for nothing. Church noise broadcast by loud speaker across the city? No way, I would NOT put up with it.

Every Saturday?

We test ours one Saturday a month, at 11:00 AM. It's a little annoying because it goes on for a minute or two and it does stir the dogs up.

Ours every Saturday 12:00. Several minutes. And I live right across the fairway from the tornado siren at the fire department.
