I'm never paranoid ... it's legal where I live ... me and the neighbors flaunt it ... grow it in our front yard flower beds ... I regularly get whiff of marijuana smoke, and not just my own ...

If you want paranoid, drop acid and hang out at the police station ...

I quit about the same time (40 years ago). 3 packs a day habit. Since then I have smoked weed and I can tell you that I have 0 effects compared to cigarettes that caused me to cough up crap all the time. Also, with weed you really don't need to smoke much. Higher content of THC will not kill you but high concentrations of nicotine can kill. It is often used for poison.

Disclaimer: I am not trying to push marijuana on anyone, it's just that I see a lot of misinformation a scare tactics being posted about it. THC and CBD are proven to help chronic pain and are much safer than taking NSAIDs or Acetaminophen every day. Big Pharma hates it.

Not in CA. In addition in CA where weed is legal, one can go to a dispensary and find all kinds of marijuana products which are all labeled, tested and labeled as to the THC content. Gummies, candy, etc. are also all available and labeled and tested. These stores have people who ask about your usage and will guide you to the best product for you as well. Illegal weed has no such testing or guidance. Some marijuana is much higher in THC than others and you don't know until tested.

Yes, when they buy it illegally. You don't know what's in it. I feel the same way about other illegal drugs. Keeping them illegal only causes more deaths IMO. Also criminals are making tons of $$ off those illegal drugs. IMO some folks don't realize that caffeine (for instance) is itself a drug. Too much can kill.

We saw what happened during prohibition. There was 'toxic moonshine' with stills using lead coils, some bootleggers added iodine, creosote and embalming fluid.

At the time, the Prohibition Bureau intentionally made 'undrinkable' alcohol by adding soap. The Feds also intentionally poisoned industrial alcohol (which people turned to). They wanted to scare people with added wood alcohol, benzine, cadmiun, iodine, zinc, mercury, etc and all they did was end up killing folks.

I just think we haven't learned anything.

I know no one who developed lung disease from asbestos. I know several people who have had serious issues with pot, including cannabinoid hypermesis.
In spite of its practical uses in construction, asbestos is banned.

It’s not hysteria. One dose of pot causes serious issues. I’ve had to deal with it for fifty years. I know several others with the same issue.

Cannabis induced derealization disorder is a very real and crippling result of THC. Cannabinoid hypermesis, psychosis, psychotic episodes, suicidal ideation, etc., are very real documented consequences of THC exposure.
Why is this so hard for pot heads to accept?

I used pot for five years before it caused derealization disorder.
It’s very real and crippling. I’m not alone.
