The CONCACAF group qualifications were striped of the three best teams ... as all three are selected as "host" countries ... that pretty much left Panama and Costa Rica as the powerhouses ... and so the door was wide open for some of these "minnow" nations to step up and have a good run in the qualifying groups ...

I remember in Panama, any field big enough for a soccer match was holding a soccer match ... everybody played and they played all the time ... work for two hours and take a 6 hour fútbal break, then call it a day ... they treat soccer like folk in the United States treat money ...

Because of the way they've put all the hosts into the World Cup, North America is getting lots of teams. Last time they got three places, so they've doubled their number.

I might follow them lightly since a few of their players were born in the UK. They are however, ranked somewhere around 80th in the world.

All three would have qualified anyway. However it mean smaller countries are getting in. The could have increased the size of the World Cup to let smaller European countries in too (and Italy, of course)
