Crumbling homes - bad construction

I would be angry too if I paid a million dollars for a home that was built like this. Everyone likes to beat up on lawyers (myself included) but sometimes you may need one. Hopefully these construction companies will be sued into oblivion.
What about material quality? Canadian criminals masquerading as business owners really hurt themselves and Canada when they used transnational tactics to ship low quality material to America with a. "made in canada stamp that really originated in China. If companies look only at the bottom line and not quality, these types of occurences are more common Im sure.

They apparently built on backfill that wasn't compacted.
Soils settle. Not a mystery what happened there.
There are companies that can fix that by injecting pressurized grout.

OK sounds good. Who pays?

These luxury homes are built by corporations who cut every corner in building a home that is nothing but a facade of luxury
I saw a big condo complex being built in the Dulles area and it looked to be built entirely of particle board.....I know particle board has come a long way but damn!

Don't buy a home from a large national builder.
Find a local company that still stick frames on site.
Most national companies use prebuilt panel walls that they slop up with underpaid mexican workers.

This, when I had my home built (hired my own contractor) I told him I did not want any particle board in the house.

PulteGroup, the parent company of Del Webb....

They had illegals building them, their construction sites in NOtVA look like anthills with all the illegals running around.
IIRC PulteGroup is majority owned by Blackrock.

The worst houses I've seen go up used 1/2" styrofoam for wall sheeting. 4 feet of plywood at the corners and angled metal straps were all that held the wall laterally.
Even after the roof was finished, you could still feel that house move in a strong wind.

Maybe. Some of the more predatory builders won't let you or it will void your warranty. They put a clause in the contract stating that if any contractor they don't approve of does repairs it voids the warranty.

A lot of contractors rely on Illegal Aliens to do their construction work, the exact people that libs are trying to encourage to move to America.

Further, a lot of these defects would be seen by the purchaser, if the government schools spent more time teaching basics like engineering instead wasting time teaching the kids about LGBTQ+ Culture and how to put a prophylactic on a butternut squash.

The homeowner unless the contract has settlement included in the builder's warranty.
That's bullshit and why the lawyers are being contacted.

One of two parties is responsible: either the construction company or the insurance company who faithfully takes in premiums year after year after year.

Building more suburban sprawl at the same quality of fine old well built houses requires more resources we don't have anymore. Building for a house's ten year lifespan is common now. Some developers are more reckless and build only for the sale.

Foundation problems are common here in Texas, in the areas where clay soils exist. For slab foundations, they will correct them with concrete piers or inject high pressure cement mix under the slab.

I purchased a new custom home in 2020, and the foundation has a 10 year warranty. Thankfully, we are on limestone bedrock, not clay, so foundation settling should be minimal to none. We found out just how solid the ground is when we had our pool dug. The excavator said it would be a 1-2 day job, but it took 2 weeks.

You mean like the vocational classes that my one grandson completed and the other is still taking? The older one is now in community college learning to be an electrician.

You obviously have no clue as to what you are yammering about. Go visit a school!
