I mean, I hope. It should be pretty obvious that you'd want to neutralize any legitimacy your enemy has in the eyes of the people. It should also be obvious that, right now, they're winning the propaganda war. Part of the reason why they're winning is that they've largely successfully framed the war as religious and the Western democracies as the forces of the Antichrist to the average Muslim. Part of the reason they've succeeded in this is the sheer number of polarizing conservatives constantly antagonizing the average Muslim and demonizing the religion he holds dearer than his own life. This is not going to defeat them. This is going to strengthen their case and make it that much easier for them to obtain sympathy, recruits, and resources, as well as push away those Muslims who would otherwise be inclined to support us. It's only by taking the dishonest route and pretending - with much force and repetition - that the war is not in any way religious in nature and our enemies do not represent the Islam of Muhammad in its purest form that we can have any hope of reversing the damage and degrading their legitimacy.
