Wrong. The USA has a free market component but also socialist and communist ones too. Much of our infrastructure, like roads and utilities, are owned or controlled by the government. Our military is organized on the communist model.

Tax funded roads utilities and are not socialism. Utilities are owned by share holders. Roads are funded by private bonds owned by citizens. The military is controlled by civilians. Saying anything paid for by taxes is socialism is stupidism.
Socialism is total control of the production of goods and services by the government. Communism is ownership of the mean of production by the state.

Free market capitalism is the economy is controlled by consumer demand that can set prices and drive companies into bankruptcy by refusing to buy. There is minimal government control. This guarantees only the businesses that satisfy the consumer survive and flourish.

In communism and socialism the most incompetent persist, you have no choices, and corruption is rampant. You will have low quality and shortages all the time and there isnt a damn thing you can do about it

However roads and utilities are funded, they are tightly controlled by the gov't. Where the roads go and how much utilities can charge are determined by the gov't. Sounds like socialism to me.
