Won't ever happen since it will be much easier to just take someone's (skin?) cells and tweak them to grow into a liver. Exactly what happens in the womb.

We don't need humans for organs, we can grow organs in a petri dish.

We can already grow brain parts on silicon wafers, that technology is ten years old.

The technical term for synthetic organs is "organoids". You can Google on it.

I can tell you from personal experience if they drink themselves to death or do drugs, they kill the liver and the liver kills everything else. I spent 3 days in a coma when my liver failed due to non-alcoholic cirrhosis. Drugs (prescribed) shut down my digestive systems and nearly killed my kidneys. Right now, my new liver is perfect but it can't be used again. My other spare parts aren't worth a plug nickel to donate. The sad part is I am doing great and my doctor says I may live a long time.
