In 2023, Canada generated approximately $1.9 billion in government revenue from recreational cannabis. This figure includes federal and provincial excise taxes, retail sales taxes, and other specific taxes. It's a significant contribution to the economy, showcasing the impact of legalization.

In Canada we know it was legalised because of the taxes.

Correlation doesn’t mean causation.

I think there’s a good chance that people who smoke a lot of weed also tend to have worse eating habits than the average person

My eating habits are normal.

I have smoked weed since 1977..
I started smoking cigs and cigars in 1975 in front of my parents.
I have been athletic and a heavy laborer for much of it.
I have suffered more from heavy lifting since 1973 than smoking.

Heavy lifting definitely ages your joints before their time

Same with cigarettes, pack of smokes in NYC cost like 14 bucks for camels and probably 20 for the upper end ones, all state and local tax
without tax they are 3 bucks a pack just like at native places

right! they don't care if it's bad for you as long as they get paid, what was dumb was making it 21 thinking that will stop kids from having somebody older buy them for them and getting rid of vape flavors like chocolate or cherry because......the kids.
back in the day going to clubs and bars I smoked djarum clove here and there because they tasted good, now they are illegal even though they are natural, because kids might like clove? LOL
what about removing a choice for adults

The Scare-Story Hoax That Set the Stage for All the Other Ones

Rich kids are spoiled and sheltered sissies. That makes them afraid of the Marlboro Man and all other masculine images. Their Daddies make all our laws, buying the love of their brats that way. That's why they've made so many laws restricting smoking, lies about its harmfulness, and regressive taxes on it.

A person's genes cause cancer. There are no carcinogens.

Well that obviously isn’t true

You smoke a joint or a bowl and you just smoked seven cigarettes. Legalized pot has only enhanced the black market. The result is many dope shops shutting down as they’re undermined by cheap illegal pot.
Meanwhile drug related social demise is exacerbated.
Pot is a dangerous drug that causes mental illness. Unfortunately, the industry controls the message and, as a result, way too many are still stuck in 1970 culture and remain clueless.

I was fueling up the other day and went inside to grab a coffee and the guy in front of me asked the cashier for a pack of smokes.

It was over ten dollars for a pack of those things. Close to eleven dollars.

The messed up part about it was that he was counting change to pay for em.

That’s addiction. Good thing our culture keeps legalizing more addiction. I guess heroin is next. That’s how they’ll stop fentanyl deaths. 😉
