Trump again puts off Afghanistan war decision.
President Trump on Friday again deferred on choosing a path forward for the 16-year-old Afghanistan war, despite a high-level meeting at Camp David to discuss options with his core national security team.

The meeting included Defense Secretary James Mattis, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, CIA Director Mike Pompeo and National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster. Vice President Pence cut short a trip to South America to attend the meeting.

This is not the first time the president was widely expected to make a decision on an updated strategy for the war in Afghanistan but held off, frustrating top national security and defense officials as well as lawmakers.

"The president is studying and considering his options and will make an announcement to the American people, to our allies and partners, and to the world at the appropriate time," Sanders said.

National security adviser H.R. McMaster and other top national security officials went into the meeting backing a modest increase in troops. At a mid-July meeting, they had thrown their weight behind 3,000 to 5,000 additional U.S. and coalition soldiers.

“Anti-globalists,” who were led by Steve Bannon before he was fired on Friday as Trump's chief strategist, backed withdrawing U.S. forces, U.S. officials said.

We should either nuke/carpet bomb the country pillar to post or get the fuck out by now. As long as they are a Muslim majority country, they will always end up being an oppressive society. They'll either vote away all their freedoms, or throw their support behind a dictatorship that will take it all away any way.

President Trump is tired of the same old "let's build a democracy" bullshit, because it never has worked with Muslims, and never will. We should let them all just kill each other, like every other Islamic country in the world. If they plot more terror attacks, drop big bombs on them all day long, but skip the "nation building" crap.

The Generals apparently don't know shit because we've been there longer than any other war. They just don't get that Islamists cannot be reasoned with and will never accept democracy.

on trial for helping them. What could he do but leave, till they begged us to return?
With GOP Congresses approvals.

And, I would add, QUIT allowing middle eastern and African immigrants into the U.S. They refuse, or are unable, to build decent societies where they are so they come here to trash our country. NO more. Their cultures are radically different, and all they do is bring their hatreds and problems with them.

Good point. But if that's true then we're up shit creek without a paddle. Stuck with a load of generals AND a president, all of whom have shit for brains.

We were scraping the bottom of the barrel in our 2016 presidential election. As a nation, we really have to search out some capable, intelligent, candidates in the future. With 300 million people in the U.S. I refuse to believe we can't find, and elect, a decent leader.
