Chris Wallace departs CNN after three years at network

12 Nov 2024 ~~ By Brian Stelter

Chris Wallace, the veteran journalist who has anchored weekly programs on CNN and the Max streaming service, is leaving the network, he announced Monday.
Wallace, 77, who signed a three-year contract with CNN in December 2021, told The Daily Beast that “this is the first time in 55 years I’ve been between jobs. I am actually excited and liberated by that.”
CNN chief executive Mark Thompson confirmed Wallace’s departure on Monday evening.

Commentary:
Wallace was offered a new contract at a substantially lower salary than he previously had been offered.
Meanwhile, CNN is again cutting it's staff and salaries.
If anyone watched CNN on the eve of the presidential election, they would have noticed the sour appearance of Wallace and some of his remarks.
In truth Wallace has been in the shadow of his father Mike Wallace, who remained on CBS till his death...

His insulting bias in the debate in 2020 will be legacy, violating any charade of objectivity in the process. CNN rewarded him for being a worm, but I don't expect that viewers will if he tries to move into podcasts which he is rumoured to be pursuing.

Good Journalist, as his father was, also. I didn't read of a substandard money offer, anywhere. They appear to have parted on good company and better than the last place he quit.
