We aren't the only ones that kill each other. A once every 500 year civil war has erupted. I don't know how they figure it happens every 500 years though.

Similar events preceded that break: the clustering of social relationships, a rise in reproductive competition, a change in alpha males and the deaths of several community-bridging males. But because Gombe chimpanzees frequently ate bananas from humans, some primatologists doubted whether the group fission was a natural behavior.

That's surprising. Even more surprising that someone thought fusing 2 chimp chromosomes to make a new species was a good idea
