Cerberus is that offbeat multi-headed dog creature guarding the underworld and preventing the dead from escaping it, serving his/its master Hades (Ancient Greek mythology). Of course, we think of Cerberus as a dog-being in general and with malicious skill for defense of a purgatory-like realm and therefore signifying a sort of 'dark guardsman' role image.
We may also think of Cerberus as a sort of 'hound-of-hell' that's conducive to modern/Christian ideas about guardian beasts/creatures hoarding or hiding/shielding any messenger of darkness-prince or 'diplomat' (e.g., the AntiChrist), which is why some like to liken/compare Cerberus to varied social media images of hound-dogs guarding or protecting areas of mysticism said to be 'controlled' by special powers/messengers/diplomats/princes of evil. We may even liken Cerberus to, say, a wolfish hound-dog protecting a fence-home where a prince of vampire-darkness (from cinema, etc.) may reside!
I wondered if I should post this topic about Cerberus in philosophy, since I'm invoking ideas about bestiality as it refers to guardianship and creature/specter/angel/demon principalities or 'dominions' of strength and frailty, but then I thought it was a Religion/Ethics topic, since Cerberus (as mentioned) is nicely conducive for modern imagery of vampires, the AntiChrist, etc., being guarded by a creature or a hound or a wolf with fangs/reach/mentalism of ethics and morality power(s), ok.
Do/should we afford a creature, a non-humanoid, a dog, some power-staff of religion or morality? What do you think? Of course, Cerberus was eventually caught by Hercules, during his famous 12-Labors 'deed' for myth/legend.

“For Hell and the foul fiend that rules
God's everlasting fiery jails
(Devised by rogues, dreaded by fools),
With his grim, grisly dog that keeps the door,
Are senseless stories, idle tales,
Dreams, whimseys, and no more.”

-John Wilmot, The Complete Poems

Well, I mean this post is meant to probe and ask the question, "What can we really infer about this multi-headed Cerberus dog creature of the underworld?" The creature serves Hades and prevents escape from the underworld. He's a ferocious servant of purgatory and things like limbo and prison. We may think of the invocation of a dog-beast as guardianship-image perhaps for a simple word of the strength and measure and actions and 'fencing' required to mark the edges and 'coloring' of Hell or the underworld or general regions of darkness powers/magic.

That is to say we rather 'like' using Cerberus to negotiate the lines of area marking the 'territory' of Hell and darkness. We rather like thinking a dog-creature of multi-headed focus has commanding protective gate-keeping muscularity when thinking about the sensitive consequences of ethics (or frailty!).

In one estimation, Cerberus gives us an animalia-keratin for coloring the 'problem' of ethics/morality keep and therefore can be used in a study of the use/referencing of animal-creatures in the principalities of Heaven/Hell. From my own (limited) background of Hindu teachings/readings, I know of Hanuman, the half-ape guardian-friend of god-king Ram (from the Indian epic Ramayana). I'm also a huge fan of the animal-spirit vigilante-mobility film The Crow (Brandon Lee).

Thoughts (go Cerberus)?
