In fairness, the Essene monk jesus could have put up a good defense, arguing that everything had been done against his clear cut wishes .

That was nothing compared to now. Just a simple search and this OP will show dozens if not hundreds of examples of worshippers supporters or Trump himself literally linking Trump with Jesus. Over and over, even in billboards. Not all Christians think this is a good thing.

Juxtaposing them in the same sentence referencing belief and religion is bizarre, but unsurprising because many hardcore supporters truly think there is some sort of divinity associated with Trump.

Yeah, well, I've watched this trend too, with mixed feelings. I get the feeling from many of his supporters--- they feel Trump is that once in a lifetime person, and maybe they are right--- I mean, a billionaire who could be living on a private island living like a king instead giving up years of his life, millions of dollars, even risking his life trying to put sanity back into government while there is still a country left worth saving.

And after Trump was almost shot in Butler, Pa, his saying with others that it was an act of God. OK. Sure. Who am I to argue with that.

But then recently, Trump said that he really feels that his life was spared that bullet so he could carry out a divine mission that God intended, or some such thing, and I couldn't help but for my training in psychology to kick in and say: megalomania?

Then I began noticing that all staff and visiting dignitaries are careful now to constantly thank Trump profusely and credit him for, well, everything. Add to that, Trump never passes on any opportunity to credit himself. OK, most of those times maybe he deserves the credit. But if I hear one more time how the Ukraine war never would have happened if Trump were in office, I think I will scream. OK, we get it. We got it after the first 400 times it was brought up.

So is any of this coloring Trump's thinking and actions? Possibly. Maybe even probably.

Do some supporters take this thing too far and seriously? Without a doubt. I might see some people dressing head to toe in Trump gear, flags, etc., during an election cycle, but not now. But I realize some people need this like some people passionately follow a sports team.

So I keep a jaundiced eye on the affairs and hope people in general don't get too swept up in this stuff and particularly, that Trump doesn't let all this crap go to his head. And most of all: that those closest to him around him don't become fearful of telling the guy the truth instead of what they think he wants to hear.

But for the most part, I thank our lucky stars we have him and hope it all works out going forward.
