Lot of hard workers who sang there, isn't it? As a West-German I was always amused when the people in the GDR sang "Die Internationale" without immediatelly to start a revolt against the party bigwigs in their "dictatorship of the proletarians".

Here the orginal text of "Die Internationale" in German. When I had to sing it I always replaced the line
"Die Internationale erkämpft das Menschenrecht" = "The International fights for human rights" with
"Die Internationale bekämpft das Menschenrecht" = "The International fights human rights."
