Premier Doug Ford has jolted U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade war with Canada, promising to slap a 25 per cent export tax on Ontario electricity that is sold stateside.

Despite signals that Trump is easing off from his threatened 25 per cent tariffs on all Canadian goods, Ford said “we have to follow through until he drops tariffs completely.”

Good luck selling your hydro power to someone else Ford.

Looks like we import about 3,000 MW from Canada. That's 3 power plants.

Start building (or restarting) your own, MN, NY, MI. Or, keep buying from Canada at 25% more. Your choice.

He's not too bright.... There are a couple hundred peaking plants here on this side of the border who are rooting him on hoping like hell that he does it.

Or get a temporary permit to buy a couple hundred thousand tons of coal.
Who is to say what repair they are in so go ahead and convert them to NG.

There's one in my AO and you would never know it was there other than the steam plume in cold weather.

We can clean coal up to 90%.
F it. Build them both. Put Americans back to work, and make electric really affordable again. Then sell it to our neighbors for 1/2 the price that Doug charges them...

He can't legally do that, contracts for the power won't permit it. He's grandstanding as always.

Without too much trouble, all Canada has done it to incentivize us to boost our own electricity production, then cut Canada loose from our grid. Let them suck on that.

Wow talk about poking the bear. Canada is going to play tough guy with less than a tenth of US GDP?

Elections have consequences. Canada is now exploring shipping its oil and gas to Europe.

What are they going to do with their hydro power?.....That and they depend on imported US gasoline in their eastern province. While they can make-up the shortfall domestically transport costs will hurt them badly.....So go ahead Hosers, FAFO.

Since Trump throttled back on his tariffs on Mexico and Canada, the imposition of the Ford export tax by Canuckistan on America is pretty ******* stupid at this point.

Look. A retaliatory Tariff against Canada is now in order. Ergo, it seems fair to predict that this Ford folly will be revoked by Canada.

Good, let them. We have ample capacity that your assholes shutdown.

Trump will fire them right back up.

They aren't generators. You have to find and develop it, and it has to be cost effective.
Yes they are. Biden and co. forced dozens of power plants to close.

Trump will simply reopen them.

Easy peasy.
