Simple solution: wire an M1000 to the bottom of the bowl. If someone picks it up to steal the whole bowl or dump it in their bag, they light the fuse.

They could still take from the bowl until its empty without having to pick it up.

Why would they do that unless they knew it was wired? When you steal something, you want to get in and out of there as fast as you can.

There's lots of stuff like that on the books. Don't take it too seriously. It's best not to let your kids out alone on Halloween anyway.
