This is California we're talking about, common sense isn't a factor there.
Parents are more so connected with their children than the government and therefore should be trusted to have their children's best interests in mind. Yes, sometimes parents are idiotic and make a health decision that is horrible and sometimes even fatal. However, the government has also been shown to not have the best health interests in its citizens at times.

It's a gray area, but I'm okay with it. Parents still have the option of not vaccinating their kids, they just have to find alternate schooling for them. They also still have the option of spacing out vaccinations, or delaying them until years after the recommended age.
