Cable channels need to catch up and release all episodes of their shows at once, like netflix.

HBO and the other cable networks are still stuck in the old model of releasing shows one episode a week....while Netfllix releases all episodes all at once...... will the cable channels catch on or will they be on the tail end of their own irrelevance?

Cable is dead. Its a technology thing. Cable and satellite are based on a model of packaging which maximized their profits by making you buy channels you don't want or watch while giving you a limited selection of programming to choose from that THEY pick, not you. Server based technology is eating alive the old concepts of "home box office."

I often just use PVR or the cable item we have, which is sort of "on demand". You can watch all the old episodes one after another. You have to wait until they have been on regular TV first though, so yeah, it's not a bunch release. If you wait until the end of the season you can basically watch them all one after another.

I wonder if marketing is better or worse watching them via a marathon session. Seeing the same commercial over and over might stick in your head more and ensure an association with said TV show. Or, the opposite. You grow tired of the same ad over and over and tune it out.
