Not the point here. We can produce more oil ourselves than Canada sends us. The issue is refining the oil and not creating an artificial shortage and then necessary price increase.

China thinks and acts long term, has much more patience than people like yourself because they know Liberals and conservatives can't decide together on what a national interest is. tarriffs will allow for future negotiations that never would have happened, because China knew they never needed to negotiate with us. They only needed people like Biden and Harris to visit while bobbing their heads up and down like good puppies.

Either refinery fires or down for "scheduled maintenance" and the fuel prices in the state would increase instantly never to return to as low as they were prior to the event. It is manipulated.

It's been over ten years since I've lived there and there have been some really big changes in the gov't--not for the better. You're probably correct that the refiners have finally thrown up their hands and are getting out. Who knows, maybe CA voters will have an epiphany and figure out they are being screwed and they will come back. Not likely, but we can all hope.

America's gas prices stay low cmpared to Canada's because it's winning politics for simpleminded people. Same with alcohol.

Canada does the feel good politics differently with much better health care and more expensive gas.

Overall taxes, about the same.

California high taxes and their unreasonable regulations on the formula for what the fuel must be greatly escalates the cost of gasoline sold in that state whether refined locally or imported from other states.

Well Newsom is a Genius you know! hes quite aware his Net Zero policies will be saving the planet, because Chinese and other asian refineries will operate much much much cleaner than American refineries here in California!
