I am thinking that by the end of her life the woman who is quoted in this song, are no longer, parcels of land, but instead are four deceased sons.
Even before I was in Elementary School I would sing along with "The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem."
They even taught me some "poetry."
"Up the long ladder and down the short rope......
I could go on but it is perhaps better that I not do so........
Can you imagine the Theological.... ideological...... spiritual..... crisis that I had once I realized that dad's ancestors were from Northern Ireland and Scotland......
and were not exactly the same "Irish" as my mom's people who apparently came from County Tipperary........
