I thought this would be pretty easy...and if I did it all the time, it might have been...but I have a whole day in this.

Did the end four lap joints by hand and the center four with a circular saw, the routing on a tabletop router table from my favorite place...

so many things sound so easy going in,,

I am getting ready to make a new chicken coop and need to make 2 doors very similar to that,,

I will build the coop faster than the doors,,

I know, right? This door took me a couple days to make. You wouldnt think that something basic like this would take very long to craft. :dunno:

you're a jerk

it's official

Is that tree something that was added to the dorr? Don't tell me you carved that!
Yeah, thats why it took two days. I had never carved wood before. I didnt even know what tool to use, so i just sharpened a spoon and sorta dug out that pattern. The wood varnish stunk though, so I had to attach the spoon to the end of a pole with duct tape, which allowed me to be about 15 feet away as I did my spoon-on-a-stick carving. Is that how everyone else does it? It seemed like the obvious way to go about it.:dunno:

Respect. I love the idea of woodworking but I know that I'd likely try to skip certain details and it would not come out as well as it should, I think I've become impatient as I age.

Incidentally I only recently learned why doors used to be made with panels, it's amazing and I had no idea this was the reason, I'd just assumed it was decorative!
