When I was in law school, my criminal law teacher taught us that (in Pennsylvania) there was a provision in the law regarding statutory rape that protected the perp when the age difference was less than four years. Later we found out that she just made it up. There was no such protection for "boyfriends" in the law. I'm not sure what the law is now.
