The Zeros made all the allied planes look horrible in the first six months of the war. Fighting the Zero’s fight was suicide in anything except a CW-21 Demon which had very similar performance to the A6M. Unfortunately there were very few Demons in service. The land-based Buffalos had better performance than the carrier-based variety.

1) Russian planes and pilots were far inferior to the Japanese.
2) The Finns stripped out the carrier equipment (and 2 guns), removing LOTS of weight.

A great example of doing what you can with what you have. The Brewster Baffalo vs Mig 3 and Hurricanes ect so great .
