Well, since they caught him red handed, there's no doubt about his guilt.

So he'll probably spend the rest of his life in prison, as the 40 years that attempted assassins normally seem to get (Fromme, Sarah Jane Moore, John Hinkley) would put him well into his 90's.

He could probably plead insanity, although I'm not sure how effective that would be. But it worked for Hinkley.
