A Minnesota man posed as an FBI agent in an attempt to break Luigi Mangione out of jail in New York City, according to prosecutors. The man has been taken into custody.
Minnesota native Mark Anderson approached the intake area at the Metropolitan Detention Center and claimed that he had an order from a judge to free Mangione, who is accused of murdering UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson.
When he was asked to display his identification, he announced that he had "weapons in [his[ bag." His belongings were then searched, where guards found a BBQ fork and "round steel blade" that appeared to resemble a pizza cutter per NBC News, which reviewed the court documents.
