And some costs more than others. Just like there's a difference between WTI and Brent....there are other places that sell various petroleum that are ALL VERY DIFFERENT.

Some make plastics like Canadian oil.
Some just make lubricants like WTI or Saudi Arabia or even Ethiopia. Others like Venezuelan oil is almost unleaded gasoline.
West and East Africa both pump oil onshore and offshore. All petroleum has uses in everyday life. From fertilizers and pesticides to medicines and dough conditioners for commercial bakeries.

What is important is the chemical makeup of the various petroleums AND what your refineries are set up to refine.
Refinery time is very precious. You don't want the petroleum to stay there for very long at all. The less time the better.

After the gasoline is cooked/cracked off....the remaining bitumen is what is prized for all the various products it makes. Gaskets, paint, lubricants, rubber/plastics, Styrofoam or foam insulation.
