Yup. And more people on the Communist side of the wall fled to the non-Communist side of the wall than the other way around. And yet there are still idiots to this very day that believe Socialism is better than Freedom.

Before....Damned if we weren't fooled.

Yes Sir, it was supposed to be all unicorns and rainbows afterwards and all we got was cheap cast-off East German/Soviet/ex-Com-Block surplus.

Blah, at least I got a good VoPo Luger and EG Makarov out of reunification.

Before. We tried from 1945 to 1989 to dissolve the USSR, the stated purpose was to counter communism and bring democracy (our version) to eastern europe. 50 years later, millions of lives later, record war profiteering, and Russia went broke before we did. That could have been a pivotal and positive turning point if we could have taken the high road and extended an offer for peace, and started disarmament for world safety, but our path was chosen for us by a very small select group of people. . The PNAC group asserted power, and reignited the old conflict, which now has been regurgitated as the proxy war in Ukraine. This was initiated by the UN attempting to absorb Ukraine and position troops on the border. Instead of any peace dividend from 50 years of chaos, we inherited more fiscal and moral ruin, and it is becoming increasingly clear that this is to be a war of attrition, with no obvious goals. These same neocons are still in play, regardless of who is president, and still formatting strife in the world. The concept of "war" and "peace" is no longer valid.

The Wall went up during the Camelot administration. Kennedy went to Berlin, gave a rousing speech that the media loved and then he went home and left Germans to be shot in the back by Russian guards. The Wall came down during the Reagan administration.
