Now that the Moral Panic surrounding transgenders has burst (thank God), can any single Leftist explain to me why body dysmorphia in eating disorders is to be treated, but body dysmorphia in transgenders is to be accepted and even celebrated?

Why is a delusion that you are fat considered a mental health issue (if you're not fat), but a delusion that you're "trapped in the wrong body" just fine?

Anyone? Just one Leftist?

Leftist here!

Your suggestion that if we need to cure eating disorders then we also need to cure trans people -is a false equivalency logical fallacy. To put it in plain English, while there are similarities they are not the same. Eating disorders are life threatening, for the obvious reasons. Being trans is not life threatening except to the extent that they are frequently targets of violent attacks, or prone to self harm as a result of the ridicule that they face. . In addition, while all people with eating disorders are suffering from body dysphoria as are trans people, there is evidence that many trans people are in fact, on some level. not entirely male or female and were misgendered at birth. That is not a delusion, that is a fact .

Furthermore, you’re operating on the mistaken assumption that the default goal for trans people is to facilitate their transition. That is far from the case, especially in the early stages of treatment The goal is never to hastily endorse what the patient thinks that they want at a point in time. Nor is it to mold them into what society wants them to be. The goal of any treatment is always to help the patient cope better with whatever issue they are having, and to find the appropriate solution. For the trans person that would include helping them to determine their true gender identity- and to take the necessary steps in order to be less anxious and distressed about it , At the same time we are not going to let someone starve themselves, Those people may always suffer from their dysphoria but they can learn coping mechanisms so that they won’t be self-destructive.

Again: delusion in trans people is not considered something that needs to be treated or cured. In those with eating disorders, it is.

The only difference is one is related to sex, and the Left is perverted about how much they adhere to anything remotely sexual.

That doesn't even make any sense,,,,,,, it kind of goes against the usual bigots rhetoric that they need to be cured. It also seems to contradict what you are trying to say in the OP .......but never mind. Nothing that you say ever does make sense. This is fully what I expected from you based on my past experience with you. You had no intention of having a serious adult conversation.

You conjured up this troll thread because you thought that you had a clever "gotcha " question that would trip up a liberal. Then you got a logical and fact based answer but could not deal with it, except to regurgitate your bigoted talking points and bleatings about delusions .

Clearly you do not want to learn anything, if in fact you could. You just want to wallow in your bizarre and hateful beliefs and throw out barbs whenever you can,.

Skeletal looking anorexics could “identify” as overweight dieters.

Should we encourage their disastrously self-delusional views?
