"The judge, Col. Jeffrey Nance, sentenced Bergdahl to a reduction in rank, a payment of $1,000 per month for 10 months and a dishonorable discharge, according to multiple reports.

Bergdahl pleaded guilty last month to charges of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy. He faced a maximum sentence of life in prison."

...during war time. The SOB could have ... probably should have ... gotten the death penalty, a life sentence at the very least.

Judge rules no jail time for Bergdahl

His time in captivity of the Taliban was more than enough punishment

Soggy in NOLA

What's it like to meltdown 7 days a week?

Many a good soldier didn't run...and fell.

The SOB should have been shot

The guy is mentally ill, yes people want a pound of his flesh but will further punishing some mentally ill guy really satisfy people? He never should have been accepted into the armed forces in the first place and had been rejected by the Coast Guard.

The guy is not 'mentally ill'. He's a deserter and a traitor. He admitted to desertion and misbehavior before the enemy. No one wants a 'pound of flesh' - they want JUSTICE.

I say he did five years in hell. I'm OK with the judge's decision. Let him go home to his goofy parents and live in peace.

It's a slap in the face to those that serve honorably and an even bigger one to those that fell.

Shoot the SOB

He's been clinically diagnosed as mentally ill.

You have a point....Obama called him a hero. Maybe send obama to prison instead.

I don't remember that from Obama, just Susan Rice's stupid comment about honorable service. In any event, he will forever be tarnished as a deserter with a dishonorable discharge, His future prospects are limited.
