Here is all the info, complete with foot notes and resources listed to back it all up.

The fact is large numbers of free Negroes owned black slaves; in fact, in numbers disproportionate to their representation in society at large. In 1860 only a small minority of whites owned slaves.


The census also determined that there were fewer than 385,000 individuals who owned slaves (1). Even if all slaveholders had been white, that would amount to only 1.4 percent of whites in the country


Duke University professor John Hope Franklin, records that in New Orleans over 3,000 free Negroes owned slaves, or 28 percent of the free Negroes in that city


In Charleston, South Carolina in 1860 125 free Negroes owned slaves; six of them owning 10 or more.

They tend to ignore all the blacks that owned slaves like William Ellison.

They ignore the fact all the slaves in America enslaved and sold by other blacks in Africa.

They ignore things like in Barbados that blacks there enslaved far more white people than all the black slaves in America out together.

The worst thing about American slavery though is that once they were freed we didn't ship them all back to Africa. Ultimately that was the biggest crime and mistake.

African tribe went to war with african tribe. The winners either killed the losers or sold them into slavery. So they were originally sold into slavery by their african countrymen.

And that's whiteys fault & we need to pay reparations for it

I would be careful with such conclusions, my man. Slavery was fine back then, and it is still fine in certain places in the world today. You cannot condemn people for doing what was ok at the time.

Slaving was perfectly legal and accepted at one time in this country. It is not fair to judge those men by today's standards.

3,776 blacks owned 13,000 slaves as recorded by Carter Woodson in 1830.

"In 1830, the year most carefully studied by Carter G. Woodson, about 13.7 percent (319,599) of the black population was free. Of these, 3,776 free Negroes owned 12,907 slaves, out of a total of 2,009,043 slaves owned in the entire United States, so the numbers of slaves owned by black people over all was quite small by comparison with the number owned by white people. In his essay, " 'The Known World' of Free Black Slaveholders," Thomas J. Pressly, using Woodson's statistics, calculated that 54 (or about 1 percent) of these black slave owners in 1830 owned between 20 and 84 slaves; 172 (about 4 percent) owned between 10 to 19 slaves; and 3,550 (about 94 percent) each owned between 1 and 9 slaves. Crucially, 42 percent owned just one slave.".
So if 385,000 people owned slaves, @372, 000 of them were white.

There weren't many William Ellisons. He was part of approximately 5-6 percent of the black slaveowners. The total number of blacks you guys are trying to claim owned the majority of slaves is less than 200.

Furthermore, William Ellison did not create black codes or Jim Crow, which further oppressed blacks for an additional 100 years and is a topic you racists cannot address because it crumbles your weak excuse laden garbage.

Any story about slave ownership from white sources are mostly inaccurate and will overstate the numbers of blacks having slaves. Had black slave ownership been a major issue, the white controlled educational system would have most certainly taught that ad nauseam from K- college.
