Sidewinders are heat seekers, so whatever it was that was shot down, obviously wasn't giving off much heat. When it comes to Air-to-Air missiles, it doesn't really come down to pilot skill, it relies on the missile actually doing its job by tracking/locking onto the target. It also seems like we're using antiquated equipment to shoot things down now, so no one can ***** about F-22 raptors being scrambled.


So cut off the bitchy anti-American Military shit, and go suck penuses in secret, because our pilots are doing their job - shooting shit down.

It fired an AIM-9 heat-seeking missile on its 1st attempt. I can only imagine it was the 1st choice due to how the object was reportedly interfering with its electronics, choosing not to initially go with the AIM-7 RADAR-guided missile.

Several years ago the Canadian air force tried to shoot down a weather balloon. Two fighters fired over a thousand rounds. They found out balloons like these don't pop, but slowly leak air. I suppose our fighter pilots learned from those others mistakes.
