Has the burnt-out old hag Bette Midler ever shown any signs of intelligence at all? I'll be the first to admit that years ago, she used to be a gifted actress/singer and she absolutely deserved the Oscar when she was nominated for playing Janis Joplin in "The Rose" in 1979.
