Best thing about a Sanders victory, nobody will ever have to work again

The problem with college isn't attendance - it's the debt that accumulates. A college education not only helps the individual, it helps the economy at large.

I've stated this before on similar discussions. If you can't figure out how to get through college without going into crippling debt, a degree in French Literature will be a waste of your time.

If you don't make the first cut of winning an academic scholarship, you take the second tier of working your way through. This may take far longer than the traditional four years.

Borrowing the full amount up front for tuition, books, room booze, drugs and board without a clearly defined return at the end is not the plan of a college worthy mind.

Few non STEM degrees help the economy at large other than providing a supply of waiters and waitresses. A trade school diploma of the German model would be far more lucrative for the individual and productive for the economy than another English or Sociology major roaming the streets whining about being an unemployed college graduate.

This is no sane reason to go into debt:

Do you honestly think people can just pay for college out of their own pockets?

are you really that stupid. if college was free, all taxpayers would be paying for someone else's education.
Don't they do that now?

Don't republicans advocate school vouchers so that I can pay to send your kid to bible school?

No, currently you have to pay your own tuition, unless you qualify for some kind of scholarship or grants (you know, like the ones Obama got at Columbia as a foreign student).

the voucher program does not apply to college, didn't you know that?

You are entitled to a basic education in this country K thru 12, regardless of your ability to pay. That's been around how long?

The thing is, a basic education in this country, in this world, in the 21st, needs to be more than a high school degree,
and therefore it needs to be available regardless of one's ability to pay. Leaving the poor behind has never worked in any society.

An advanced education is not a social problem. We have more kids in college than ever before. With Sanders, it's all about vote buying.

When you spend money to make more money back, that's called an investment. College is an investment and taxpayers should not be on the hook for that investment. Having stocks is an investment, but taxpayers don't fund your portfolio. Buying a house is an investment, but government shouldn't be buying houses for everybody either. Starting a business is an investment, but I'm not going to work every day to help pay for your business that you started.

That's not true for larger percentages of college graduates. We have far more lawyers, historians, economists, psychologists and sociologists than we will ever need.

Socialism is government control of the economy.

It's as simple as that.
Right and our defense budget, therefore, is the biggest socialist institution in the world. A country with a private market can still have socialist aspects. Bernie, for instance, does not plan on ending our private market system.

As long as you pay for my free stuff I really don't care
There isn't enough revenue to pay for bloated defense budget. You can thank Bush for that free stuff.

But there is enough money to pay for free college and free healthcare for everyone?
Under our current healthcare plan, his plan would save 5 trillion over time. Obviously it would require taxes to do so. Do you really think our private healthcare system isn't already a drain on both businesses and individuals?

His tuition program would be paid for through a tax on Wall Street speculation.

You have to be terminally gullible to believe that crap. His promises are right up there with "if you like you doctor, you can keep your doctor."

Just like Obamacare was going to save us $2500 a year? Sorry, I'm tired of government promises that cost us more and further burden the middle class.

You're just making things up again. It's not like you are basing this off of actual statistics.

I hung drywall right after high school and my foreman had a master's degree in psychology.

What does that tell you?

I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and I got a job with child protective services right out of college. What does that tell you? Your foreman could easily find a career depending on the type of psych degree he had.

Just as I thought, you're a tick sucking off the taxpayers.

Do you really think my foreman would be hanging drywall if he could get an easy job in a nice clean office?

People with psychology degrees are a dime a dozen. There would be a labor shortage in the restaurant industry without them.

Wow so you actually think CPS is a waste of tax payer money? You really are a dumb, bigoted, and selfish Rightwinger aren't you?

CPS causes more harm than it alleviates. There are other ways to protect children without some oppressive gestapo destroying families.
