Be less judgemental

.

This is such a hard one.

My God tells me to love my neighbor as I love myself.

Treat my neighbor as I want to be treated.

I can never imagine myself sexually assaulting a child, so I have no way to picture myself being tolerant of someone who would.

Intolerance is the sin I find myself most often taking into the confessional.

.
Don't ever trust people who clear their conscience by asking their imaginary friend for forgiveness.

What was that OP ?
The beginners guide to Being a Wimp?

It reads exactly as I would expect a piece of low grade propaganda to read -- ridiculing Critical Thought .

You do not appear to have any idea of what critical thought is. Essentially critical thinking is the ability to interpret, evaluate, and analyze facts and information that are available, to form a judgment or decide if something is right or wrong. It takes an open mind, something that you apparently lack. It doesn't matter which side you're on, if you cannot accept any other possibility but your own concept of what the truth is, then you are not a critical thinker.

Those who end up in jail for doing whatever gets them put away, I wonder if they were hoping that people would do to them what it is that they choose to do to other people.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. If they are hoping that the favors are returned, the perhaps the prisons are just the perfect place for them. :) :) :)

Fuck that noise...."Tolerance" is what got us "woke", pedos no end, and burnt cities.....Nope, I think I'll be even less tolerant towards those that want to push "tolerance" upon me.

In my earlier years I was a judgemental person, looking down on others for what they said or did without considering the cause or consequences. You can cause a lot of harm or pain in so doing and mostly for no benefit to yourself or anybody else. Now, in my later years (76) I see the fault (mine) in that; true people do some strange things these days, sometimes it doesn't matter but sometimes it does and we point fingers and say 'what an idiot' or 'that was so wrong'. But I have come to realize that each of us is a product on our environment; we are all indoctrinated from birth with certain values, morals, principles, and habits that to others appear warped at best.

It seems to me that when a person says or does something that we don't like then we cast aspersions on their character without knowing how or why they said or did whatever it was. If it was harmful or illegal then they should pay the consequences for it, and that's fine. But I also think we should be considerate enough to withhold judgement until further information becomes known. And we are an intolerant people these days, moreso I think than in the past and that ain't a good thing.

The world we live in today is more isolated and divided than ever before, or so it seems. Clearly, the gov't cannot or will not do anything about that, not until forced to. So, it falls to us as individuals, if you want a better world for the next generation and those that follow then take the next step and work on being a better person yourself. I'm guessing the people around you will take notice and maybe follow your example. Isn't it worthwhile to be less of an asshole? Yeah, maybe it's fun sometimes but at what cost to others and what example are you setting?

At any rate, as we close out 2024, think about the kind of person you want to be. And then become that person. Be well everybody.

If this place had a "post of the year" I would nominate it. I wholeheartedly agree. I hope you don't mind me asking; are you a Christian? Your post is definitely Christ-like.

We're called to exercise righteous judgment, brother, but the OP isn't talking about this. The OP is encouraging us to be more charitable to one another and less condescending.

I already have that poster (and many others) on "ignore". There are good posters here (such as yourself) and I want to read more of their content rather than foolishness and bullshit.

Actually, I am not a Christian. I do accept and try to live by the teachings of Christ though. Thanks for the kind words, and Merry Christmas.

I try to be merciful, but I'm not tolerant. I think there's a difference.

When people cite "tolerance" what they often mean is that we're to call good evil, and evil good. Or we're to see wrong and just endure it. I'm not tolerant in that way; Christians are not called to be.

But we are called to be merciful. That is, do not "tolerate" sin, but be merciful to those caught up in it. For one thing, it's all of us.

For example, I am opposed to illegal immigration, yet I have worked for and donated to an organization that feeds illegal immigrants. I don't tolerate the crime but hope I have mercy on the people.
