Basket Ball

I play off & on. One time, I bought a medicine ball because my three point shots were always falling short. Using it helped get my shots just over the rim. I got into a rhythm and our team in my workplace asked me if I wanted to join their midweek game.

So I joined the game and did fairly well. But after the game, I changed clothes are realized I forgot clean socks. I was going to my parents’ house right after because my sister got engaged and they were having a party of about 50 people.

I had to be on time, so I was in a bind. My teammate/co-worker said the zebra always has a few extra pairs of socks in his locker. I replied, “zebra?” To which he responded, “The referee—you know they’re called zebras because of their striped shirts.” I told him I knew the terminology, but it had just thrown me off.

Anyway, I ask zebra for some socks. He goes to his locker and was loaded. He even had a pair of those high quality Pastelli socks from Italy. I got a pair and was in plenty of time for a great party.

seems some Hondo socks were active here 😊

did anybody else play basketball? 👍

I'm from the state where the sport was created, but I always had other athletic pursuits during the winter season.

you may look in the nick list in this thread. 😎

I will sometime in March.

Most everybody played it. We all had to take gym class, mostly.

When I was in grade school (late 50's, early 60's) the basketball team and cheerleaders were the most popular kids in school. I signed up for BB, made the team, but was not great. In 8th grade, we had a kid who was 6'1", which was a giant at the time for grade school, and the coach devised a whole offensive system around him. But he quit the team after the first practice game (we got killed). So the coach plugged me in as a low-post center, at 5'9" - just average height. We won every game that year until eliminated in the city playoffs - by the same team that beat us at the start of the season - by one point.

That was the high point of my basketball life, although I played recreationally into my 20's.

we talk about maj and log cabin ... socks of Hondo 50
I have no idea who they are or do I care, this is a basketball thread, what you guys are talking about are off topic and irrelevant.

I like playing to keep in wind shape for baseball.

Also, I worked on our school church carnival one year. A carney was setting up the basketball hoop. It was a game where making 3 of 3 gets you a big stuffed animal.

The back of the pole had numbers for the pole's height. He adjusted it to 10 feet 3 inches.

I asked him why he did not make it an even 10 feet. He replied that his company had to make money. I said he could not do that.

I readjusted it to 10 feet. He got ticked and started working on the ferris wheel. lol

15th post
As I recall it was an indoor sport developed for male athletes to keep themselves in shape in the freezing winter months in Massachusetts.
Springfield, MA. Peach baskets and soccer balls.
