Dubai: Bahrain has detained five people behind a bomb attack in July that killed two policemen, the interior ministry said on Thursday, and accused them of being linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.

Bahrain, which has long accused Iran of stirring up unrest among its population, recalled its ambassador from Tehran last Saturday after what it said were repeated hostile statements made by Iranian officials.

Iran denies the accusations but openly supports opposition groups seeking greater rights for fellow Shiites, who form a substantial proportion of the kingdom’s population.
