Eavor, a Canadian company, has built closed-loop geothermal power plants in Canada and is currently building two closed-loop geothermal plants in Germany. Eavor employs a slightly different and safer approach that doesn't generate earthquakes. Eavor drills down a few kilometers while laying steel pipe and then builds a "radiator" of steel pipe to extract heat and conduct it back to the surface in steel pipe to convert to electricity. Additionally, an Eavor closed-loop geothermal power plant is expected to produce power 24/7 for up to 100 years and can be built for $200 million dollars in as little as two years
There is also ongoing research into new, cheaper drilling technologies ( such as plasma) to disrupt the old mechanical drilling methods.

I don't think Germany is still buying natural gas from Russia. I doubt that the magnitude of this project is big enough to be significant other than in its immediate area.

This meme is stupid. Putin wouldn't be leading any form of "coalition of dictatorships", more likely it would be China. Russia is a laughing stock. Most likely I would say if WW3 did occur it would be a Chinese-Cambodian Axis consisting of a spattering of Chinese satellite states such as the DPRK, vs the West/NATO vs Islamists such as Iran and Afghanistan vs Russia by itself if Russia attacks NATO.
