Apparently the corrupt British Empire supported the Confederates in the Civil War. This was linked to economic interests related to cotton.

At some point they were ready to step in and push the Rebs over the line.

What would America look like today if the Rebs had won ?

I used to live in the south, but that lowered expectations existence got a little slow and boring..
 
I like the south featured in the movie Doc Hollywood. They all seemed to be decent types.

They look just like the Russian and German pesants do.
 
Can I ask if this is just history now or if there is still some rancour ?
Do groups of young lads have brawls over it in holiday spots when they have had too many beers ?

For many years at keg beer parties, usually the first words out of mouths was to identify your association to the North or the South, and then words would fly, then fists...
