What has that got to do with Americans being slow witted and badly informed ?
As I've posted many times, a college degree is not proof of intelligence. And many people without a college degree are highly intelligent. It’s because people with higher IQs can see through the college scam.
As I stated, there are multiple reasons for the decline and certainly the subsidization of student loans by the government and the very effective "marketing campaign" for college education are primary reasons. However I don't understand your last statement "An IQ of 102 is still considered average as is 119".What happens to the average of a dataset as you add more units, in this case undergraduate students?
From the article:
[snipped]
As a college degree has been increasingly portrayed as the ticket to a lucrative job and a comfortable middle-class life, a greater proportion of young adults has been attending. Abetting this process are readily attainable government student loans. But there’s a potential problem with this open door to academia. According to statistics from the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, only 58% of students manage to attain their degrees within six years. What’s more, the rate of dropping out is negatively linked with IQ — the lower an undergraduate’s IQ, the more likely it is that they will leave college without a degree, potentially saddled with debt. One influential study showed that for white American undergraduates with an IQ only slightly above average, their chance of graduating is essentially 50-50.
The population of the United States was 130.88 million in 1939. Currently it is close to 340.00 million, a little less than 3 times the population in 1939 (38%).
An IQ of 102 is still considered average as is 119:

You lose.
Okay...lets do the math. You might want to take a look at what Obama and Biden racked up in new debt.
There is no move to make. All of the recent administrations spend money like drunken sailors. Clinton was the last one to balance the budget.Okay...lets do the math.
$32T in debt.
Your blob did a quarter of that in 4 years.
Your move.
This is the part where you blame Congress for spending, not the President. Hop to it.
As I have posted many times, many HS Dropouts are freaking dumbAs I've posted many times, a college degree is not proof of intelligence. And many people without a college degree are highly intelligent.
As I have posted many times, many HS Dropouts are freaking dumb
And many of those are also more intelligent than a lot of tenured Liberal Arts professors, many of whom were merely draft dodging dopers stuck in the Sixties and influenced a lot of the current mob of halfwits with high self-esteem now wasting time and money pretending to be 'scholars n stuff'.
Fascinating, but irrelevant to my thread. As I have posted many times, many HS Dropouts are freaking dumb
Yep. Keeping Regular Americans out for the sake of "Divirsity".Affirmative Action.
No. They suck. A Degree in Liberal Arts and $5 will get you a coffee at Starbucks. Won't get you a JOB there. You may be able to say “some” but not “most”
Even though you don’t like them, most tenured Liberal Arts professors are quite intelligent
I doubt if you will find many HS dropouts who are more intelligent than a Liberal Arts professor
Social media is part of the reason for the decline in IQ.Multiple reasons for the decline in undergraduate IQ, but yikes from 119 down to 102?
Undergraduates' average IQ has fallen 17 points since 1939. Here's why.
A new analysis shows that undergraduates' IQs have decreased over the past four decades as attending college has grown more common.bigthink.com
How very racist of you! Congratulations! After this picture was taken, things went down hill.
